2010-09-12 [another brick in the wall]: Well, in my opion, (and I am not at all edging a debate, anyone can reply if they wish, wont matter if not) Salvation is never symbolic. Salvation is real. Anything that stands for salvation, IS salvation. If Jesus shows that a baptism is the way of salvation, then it IS the way of salvation. And if he thought baptism by water was not the way, then he would have just stuck to 'spiritual baptizing', and not gotten baptized in the river at all. there is no "This symbolizes everything you need in life, but you don't actually need it itself", ya know?
could I ask what the ideas were behind your bible study concluding that you didn't need baptisms? But to V, don't be distraught by this, one should wait to be baptized until they feel the calling to it anyway. When the day arrives, you can then be baptized by the Holy Spirit.
2010-09-12 [Mrs Vicious.]: hmmm... mkays, I dont think I was distraught but thank you for your concern.
2010-09-12 [*Phoenix*]: I do know you don't have to be baptized to BE saved, but a Christian should WANT to be baptized to show their commitment to the Lord. The Bible says to be saved you must "confess with you mouth, 'Jesus is Lord.'" It doesn't say you must be baptized to be saved, but I believe a Christian should want to be baptized.
2010-09-12 [another brick in the wall]: True. I'd agree with that.
2010-09-12 [Mrs Vicious.]: Hmmm, but is it crusial to be baptised to be recognised by the lord?
2010-09-12 [*Phoenix*]: No.
2010-09-12 [Iruvielle]: "could I ask what the ideas were behind your bible study concluding that you didn't need baptisms?"
We never said you didn't need baptism.
Never once.
Like Phoenix said, a christian should WANT to be baptized.
I WANT to be baptized, I just haven't found a church to settle into properly before being baptized. I go to a church, but it's not constant every single sunday(for personal reasons). I sometimes skip between churches(a brethren and a baptist church. :P)
2010-09-12 [*Phoenix*]: I understand what you mean about not feeling right about it yet. I was baptized when I was really little, but I don't remember all of it, so I've decided when I find a place I'll be settled into my new life after I graduate, I'll prayerfully consider it more then.
2010-09-12 [another brick in the wall]: oh, I misenterpreted
And I hope you find the true place of the Lord to be baptized under. Best wishes.
2010-09-13 [Iruvielle]: That's alright. :)
And, well, I've been considering it and after talking with my aunt today, I think I might talk to the pastor of the church I'm currently going to... to see about baptism... :3
2010-09-14 [*Phoenix*]: That's great, Flail! ^-^
2010-12-20 [Artsieladie]: Nice wiki, [*Phoenix*]! :)
2010-12-21 [*Phoenix*]: Thanks. It's a remake of someone else's. I have some more ideas, but I haven't had time to work on it.
2010-12-22 [Iruvielle]: :)
2010-12-23 [Iruvielle]: YOU TOO, PHOENIX! <3
Remember the REAL reason we celebrate Christmas! :D
The little babe that was born in the stable and slept in a manger.
The babe that would grow up to become the Saviour we know and love.
The Son of God. <3
JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON! :D
2010-12-25 [Artsieladie]: Amen! Hence, my "Christ"mas art and poem this year: "Christ"mas Pegasus.
Merry "Christ"mas *Phoenix* and Everyone! :)
2010-12-27 [Iruvielle]: Could I ask everyone to be praying?!
I have a friend in MAJOR trouble spiritually and physically.
I won't mention names, but... I have a friend who was a VERY strong Christian.
An amazing girl.
Very smart.
Very beautiful.
She, recently, started classes in Egypt.
About a month ago(or more maybe. :S) she informed the family that she was becoming muslim.
She turned her back on Christianity and the Lord...
The more the family simply talks about it to her, it angers her and she turns her back even more.
I just got another update tonight(Dec. 26) that she's to be married to a muslim man(thus the turning muslim)...
She only has a limited time now to come back to the Lord.
...
Once married, to leave the man and the religion is a death sentence.
Please, could you lift her up to the Lord in prayer?
Pray that this lost child will be found?
Pray that the Lord God will prevail and break the hold Satan has on my friend?
I, and the whole family would GREATLY appreciate it! :)
2011-01-01 [*Phoenix*]: OF COURSE, Flail!!! That's what this place is about!!
2011-01-02 [Iruvielle]: Thanks Phoenix. :)
2011-02-06 [*Phoenix*]: You're welcome. :]
